The William Morris Home Page
Carrying forward John Ruskin's ideals of the Arts and Crafts Movement, William Morris expounded the philosophy that if things were made by hand, using traditional means, the customer would get a better product and the craftsman who made the product would have a better job. He practiced what he preached and became one of the create designers of the 19th Century and a major saviour of crafts skills in England. Even the concept of amatures doing woodworking as a hobby is an idea that has it roots in the Arts and Crafts philosophy.
